Frequently Asked Questions (F. A. Q.)
- Which type of shearling skin is the warmest?
Good
question, while all shearling skins will definitely keep oneself warm
considering the natural thermal insulating properties of lambs wool.
Even the ultra-fine shearling skins are very warm and perfectly
comfortable for a typical cold winter days, for commuting, shopping,
and everyday running around. It's naturally lightweight skin rendering
a desirable easy, comfortable finished coat.
For more extreme
cold winds and temperature constantly below freezing, you may want to
select a shearling skin with more loft in it's natural wool-side and a
thicker flesh or leather-side like Mill Valley's exquisitely-warm
spring lamb shearling skins or a variety of our endurable hand rubbed
shearling skins.
- Are some Mill Valley shearling coats warmer than the others?
Yes
and no. The real deal is if you live in a moderate temperature zone
where typically it's only a chilly cold winter season then your ideal
coats are the Moreno skin coats and or ultra-fine shearling coat which
has less loft and density or Kalgon and Pearl lamb shearling skins that
are a fine choice as well as for a lighter weight and practical for
such climate.
Whereas the damp cold Eastern Seaboard winters
enduring the blistering winds of the Midwest, Canadian, and Great
Plains lake effect to the mountains all over the world, it could be
suggested to go with more lofty and denser shearling coats made in
American spring born lamb skin, Spanish Borrego skins, hand-rubbed
curly wool Moreno and Kalgon with a higher loft and density resulting
in a warmer finished coat.
